Source text stays untrusted

Retrieved passages are supplied as evidence, not as instructions. The generation contract asks the provider to answer from those passages and to identify the supporting quotations without allowing document content to redefine system behavior.

02

Supported or insufficient

Generation distinguishes an evidence-supported response from a question the retrieved material cannot answer. A document can contain negative facts, such as a feature not being implemented; those are different from claiming the document has no information.

03

Bounded verification

Selected quotations are checked against the supplied passages. Invented quotations and unsupported document-wide denials can trigger one bounded repair. If generated prose still fails but verified excerpts remain, Citely can return those excerpts rather than preserve unsupported prose.

04

What validation can and cannot prove

Quote matching verifies provenance and location. It does not prove that every interpretation is logically correct. Readers should inspect citations, especially for consequential decisions, ambiguous source language or incomplete documents.
